Topic: Virtual DJ Stems 2.0 Not Working with Tidal Music - Page: 1
Hello,

I have a VDJ Pro license and I’m trying to use the new Stems 2.0 feature. I source my music from my Tidal account in VDJ. When I try to drag any track from my Tidal music to the Stems folder nothing seems to happen. I don’t see any tracks popping up in the Stems folder. Any idea what the issue is?

Hi, stem works with local music files only.

No, that is just for pre-pared stems, because you can't keep online content, so you can't keep the stems from them
But stems separation works fine for real-time stems separation of Tidal files (and other online content provider files)

Would the real time separation have the same quality as Stems 2.0?

Yes, absolutely. exactly the same 2.0 stems.

Real time = same 2.0 stems are calculated when loaded. (vs being calculated in advance, saved to the HD, and hence using HD space. A great alternative if ones GPU is not fast enough to calculate the stems on the fly.)

I was able to use TIDAL stems until today. Virtual Dj should have sent an email about this.

Echoing last poster, Stems support seems to have disappeared on the fly during one of my sets with no warning, N/A now appears on tracks in the stems space, saying "not allowed".

Can we get some clear communication as to what's going on with Tidal Stems? Seems like an extremely abrupt change of heart, seeing rumors across the DJ space that Tidal is now blocking stems due to record label pressure?

Yep just found this out too about tidal no longer letting stems being used, guess it’s time to sub to deezer and SoundCloud haha

Yoooo...i'm glad i'm not the only one to come here lookin' for answers about this. Kinda stupid move on their part. All i'm bout to do is cancel Tidal. Same day they made me pay for an upgrade to HiFi Plus in order to keep using it on VDJ, and I can't even use stems? What's the point then? pain in the a** though having to migrate all my playlists, but w/e I guess.

Random thought. Does TIDAL + stems still work with serato? if so, i really hope they ain't sign no exclusivity bs. that's not gonna migrate users to serato. people who use VDJ use it because it's what we know, and it's what we excel on. All we bout to do is convert all our playlists to Deezer like the homie XRawrX said.

Anyways, glad I got that off my chest. And even more glad that I'm not alone with this issue. I for real thought it was just my computer. TIDAL ain't been the same since HOV sold it. Someone fix it, or all I'm doing is cancelling my TIDAL sub. Thanks for an extra day's work TIDAL.

BOO THESE PEOPLE!

Yes noticed yesterday, thought it was a hardware malfunction, Tidal track on one deck no stems and eq knobs not even turning on screen, other deck local music no issue with stems. Sent Tidal a support ticket if no reasonable answer cancelled subscription.

is stems only affected or can you not EQ tidal tracks also, I didnt notice this past wkend during my gigs. I own almost all my own music, tidal is only a backup in case I have a request that I dont have locally, you should always have a local copy of most your music.

You can still EQ as normal.

It's hit Algoriddim and DJUCED now, and there's a post on DDJT. It wouldn't surprise me if the other streaming services follow suit.

Unless you haven't updated to the latest version it still works. Tried it with Serato and Djay Pro Ai

agree here, but how do you legally get them for a decent amount of money? cause you know? i'm not interested in paying thousands of dollars for local copies of songs from direct record labels.

I've got a Ford Fiesta but it doesn't go as fast as a Porsche, so I'll just steal a Porsche instead. Flawed logic there dude.

That's a pity - just recognized that Tidal-issue too! But it still works with Deezer. Fortunately I have both :)

So they wait until I upgrade to a new laptop to specifically decide to make a change now I’m sitting here with this extremely nice laptop and now I can’t even do what I intended to use it for…nvidia 4090 for what I ask myself

You CAN do it - just not with Tidal's catalogue.

You could buy music (the safest option).

You could subscribe to another streaming service (but they may block stems in future).
