Topic: New Feature: Automated Importing Key from external Sources
Hello

I've got recomendation for new feature.

It would be nice if there will be possibility to have automated import key for tracks from external sources/databases like tunebat, beatport in similar way like we can check the track's tags from discogs. Sometimes analizing engine can't handle to find apropriate key for the tracks. External databases provide exact key which track was produced so if it exists it would be easier to check & set it than analizing track (or compare after all)

Please consider this.

Best regards !

What evidence do you have that VDJ is getting the key wrong?

What evidence do you have that keys from other databases/analysis software are correct?

VDJ already has an option to use the key from the tag, so if you have already set the key based on other data, it will be kept.

I've got a lot examples. I can prepare & send it if you want. I compared hundreed times VDJ & Rekorbox engines & I found that in many cases keys are diffrent / inapropriate sometimes with huge mistakes.

We can say the same talking about discogs tracks tags and in this case check mechanism exists.
I believe that beatport can be golden source which gives exact key because it is provided by producers. Isn't it? So it can be some reference

Yes, I know. I use it regularly but' I don't use VDJ engine for finding keys because Rekordbox is more accurate in this case. The thing is that it needs a lot of effort to check (compare) keys manualy in beatport site so automation like discogs check will be very usefull.

Well you can believe it if you like, but it's not necessarily true.

For many years, various tests have shown that Mixed In Key tends to be the most accurate detection software, but even MIK is not 100% accurate.

From the MIK website:
"Even websites like Beatport and Splice show the wrong keys."

Ok. It's good to know. But still it can be additional information which will be usefull to figure out final, apropriate key ;) (Statistics + finally electronic piano can do the job) So my proposition is worth considering ;)
